So today at work we started talking about healthy eating and exercise. I can’t really remember how we got onto the topic but what I do know is that I have signed myself up to a 7 day challenge!
Me and my friend decided to write down all the things we thought were ‘healthy’ and shared them with each other. Funnily enough, we had the exact same thing!
- Drink plenty of water
- 5 a-day
- 30 mins of exercise a day
- 8 hours sleep
- Eat clean
We set ourself a 7 day challenge to find out what our diets are really like and how we felt after doing 7 days of exercise with no rest so here I am keeping a food diary. I can tell you now before I have even written my weeks food diary that there will be a bit to many sugary things in there! Mmmm I do love to dunk a biscuit or 7 in my tea!
So, the challenge we have set is to do at least 30 mins of exercise daily and keep a food and sleep log including a recording of our calorie intake. Once we have completed this, it’s onto a tougher 21 day challenge!
I am quite excited for these 7 days purely to get back into exercising again after having a baby and also to work out where I can improve my diet. I know it’s something I need to do but I just love unhealthy foods way more than the green healthy ones!
Today’s exercise has been completed and I feel it was a success. I done 5 mins of stretching/ warming up followed by 10 mins cycling on an exercise spin bike with some bouts of cycling as fast as I can then 15 mins of yoga.
As I haven’t done much cardio based exercise for a good 3 years (other than running after a toddler) I thought I would start of my cardio routine slow and work my way up. The yoga at the end was a nice way to relax my leg muscles, stretch and cool down. I normally do yoga once a week and find it great for having a good old stretch!
I am looking forward to what day 2 has in store for me. I have planned a 30 min walk into my day followed by some yoga stretches in the evening. I will release these hamstrings!
If you are interested in making small changes within your lifestyle to become healthier then look out for my challenge posts where I will be documenting my journey as well as any new delicious meals I have discovered.
If you have any suggestions on healthy snacks or lunch ideas, please share them in the comments and Ill give them a go!
